Vacheron Constantin

Thank you for the high praise Tim!

I agree with you, the Aerostiers were indeed very impressive! But with such a small production of so few pieces, I didn't want to write about something nobody could get... Maybe that's why we don't read a lot of articles about stainless steel Rolex Daytonas.
This year was definitely Vacheron Constantin's year at SIHH, and combined with Baselworld, arguably Vacheron Constantin has the best show of the year. And while FIFTYSIX is getting all the attention, I wanted to further elaborate on a forgotten piece, which happens to be my favorite piece.
We share a lot of sentiments Tim. Let's hope that these brands dare more, and do more.
And oh man, don't get me started on the new Patek Philippe Nautilus. While I'm sure it will be a commercial success, that's all it will ever be in my book. The movement requires a correction pusher on the 9 o'clock side of the case, this pusher ruins the lines of the case and makes the semi-artificial hinge look all the more artificial. Combined with the odd font that is used (the font is so different from the date font used in the 5712) that it first looked like a fake watch to me. Why would Patek Philippe use a font that is so different from every other Nautilus they have? Oh well, Emperor's new clothes, there will always be blind followers.
Let's see how AP does their new Jules Audemars Collection coming up in 2019. Whether or not they take risks with the new collection will remain to be seen.
The future is bright for Vacheron Constantin. The launch of the FIFTYSIX collection is a big thing, even if it is the Fall of Rome; the Metiers d'Art is exceptional this year; this Traditionelle Tourbillon is great to me personally since I'd love to own one myself; and the new line of old watches - the Les Collectionneurs line of factory restored watches. A lot going on for one of the top brands.
I'm really hoping that Lange does some risk taking, but obviously the right ones. I'm still so deeply surprised that they canclled the 40mm 1815 watches (the 233.XXX series) and changed it to a 38.5mm version (235.XXX series). I like the 40mm version much more! The Saxonia Thin Blue Copper is nice, but it's got an air of formality that makes me wonder if I'd use it regularly. The strap being not stitched at the edge also suggests it's less durable in the long run.
Thanks again Tim for reading. Your comments always command a compelling read!
