Ahh, I've never gotten to see one and wear one...
The AP watch that I liked was the special Jules Audemars Chronometer with the special robin escapement. That watch was beautiful. But it wasn't a direct comparison, and that AP was 2x the price of this Vacheron Constantin. The finishing on that watch is superb. Blows Patek Philippe out of the water. The scallop polished concave barrel screws on the back are just a small example of the finishing on that piece.
I've never gotten really wear the AP Royal Oak Tourbillon as I've never really seen one on my wrist. At the end of the day, these watches are still a little rare and hard to get a hold of. It wasn't easy to get Vacheron Constantin to loan one of their prized (and brand new) Tourbillons to me for two weeks. Normally, most moderators writing about these kinds of pieces are sourcing the pieces from a private collection. These watch brands very rarely have watches of this caliber to loan out. But if I ever get the opportunity to get an AP tourbillon, I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts and contrast it with this piece.
If I were to buy a high-complication piece today, this Vacheron Constantin would likely be it. A great piece. I can't think of a single flaw!
Exactly!

It's really the best of both worlds. Automatic, daily use, no winding, still afforded an 80 hour power reserve (most automatics are around half that), a huge balance wheel and tourbillon cage with a more pleasing slow beat. Packaged in a generous sized ca...
I like 'boring ' watches but

there are good 'boring' and bad 'boring'. Good ones are meant to be subtle and yet technically and conceptually strong. Bad ones just don't say much. For this tourbillon, the fact that we need to applaud them that the rotor doesn't block the transparent t...

I am certain any well designed watch that's 38mm-39mm from the big brand and focus on extreme finishing like Dufour and Credor will be an instant hit. For VC, if they continue following the route of Grand Seiko, launching important vintage piece s in reas...
Good question...

I didn't notice if the hair spring was a flat or terminal curved or otherwise. I'll ask on your behalf if I get a chance. It's really a great watch, one of the best watches I've ever reviewed and a piece I already know I want to own. I almost didn't want ...

Truly hard to find weaknesses and faults with this one. And I'm normally picky enough to find something wrong with every piece! I like it a great deal too... I'm currently buying something physically big. But I think I still have enough room for something...
