What about "PG" (pronounce: pee-gee)?
Sounds childlike and alludes to the gold aspect of the fish - but as the goldfish definitely has an orange-reddish color, is more appropriate than "WG" or "YG" 
.
Apart from that "PG" might serve for futher wordplay like having people guess what this stands for: Pa´s goldfish? Patrick´s/Pam´s/Parents´ goldfish? Petite goldie? Perfect goldie? Present goldie? ...
But I also like Daos´ "Auric" - something for Bond fans without any doubt.
Continuously meditating on an even better name....

Hello Allen, I'm surprised that the fish lived for 3 years! I guess she has the magic touch. Did you feed the fish the food flakes? I used to do bread crumbs on those carnival goldfish and they really liked eating it. -MW
Just the fish flakes are enough to keep them alive.
My friend's goldfish lived for almost 10 years and grew to almost a foot long!

We think very much alike! Another vote for Auric. I was also thinking about the scientific name of gold and the famous James Bond film. We can't call the goldfish Scaramanga; so Auric would be my choice.
