Revival of an old Prince
I have an old Rolex Prince Doctor steel watch case and dust cover found more than 10 years ago together with a bunch of spare parts. I have tried to look for a spare movement alone but without much success. There are many Rolex doctor's watches fitted with Gruen movement but not the other way around. The most precious Rolex Prince are the one with the Platnum case, the bi colour tiger strap case and the steel case. In fact, one will find many in precious materials such as silver and 9k, 14k, 18k gold or bi colour case. The steel one is rare IMHO.
As mentioned recently, I have found a Gruen doctor watch but fitted with a Rolex movement and this has presented me with an opportunity to start my project again.
I have decided to revive an old prince by fitting it with a correct movement. With the help of the internet, I have managed to find a NOS dial overseas.
The dial arrived quickly and I brought the watch to a watch maker to restore everything. Affter one day, this is it!
I will have to restore the Gruen doctor watch after it has donated its movement to this Prince....Will need to start searching for a Gruen Doctor watch movement now.
