That was exactly the song I was thinking about, Pelle
I am a HUGE Nick Cave fan. I have listened to this album a thousand times. I lost my father a few months ago and the words are perfect because they give me something to hold on to, in something I will have to accept but is very difficult to understand.
Regarding Nick Cave we share this enthusiasm. He has been part of the soundtrack to my life since my teenage years in Melbourne. I have learned so much from him over the years. In my early years as a young architect about handling the creative process and the difficult struggle it sometimes just is. Later when he lost his son Arthur, he was able to reinvent himself to become someone who had much more of his personal self invested. In his songs and writings, he is truly generous and positive. His thoughts about getting something good out of life and also his intelligent way of dealing with loss and grief. He has pointed out how loss and grief are a part of being human and it has made it more easy for me to accept.
Your thoughts on watches resonate with me. Everything we surround ourselves with these days is so fleeting and ever changing. Made with very little care. A watch is one of the very few items that are personal. Also because you wear the watch. Day after day in all kinds of situations. I’m sure your son and his children will understand your message when it’s their turn to take care of your watch.
Pelle, thank you for your very kind words and for sharing your thoughts. My great Swedish brother!
