Patek Philippe

Great subject.

Lots to ponder. I am enjoying reading the viewpoints. I have one son who is currently 7 so I hope this is not imminent and my thoughts may certainly change in time.

My personal view, as mentioned in a reply above, is to have my watches included within the bigger picture of the estate.

Even though my son is 7, he seems to like watches and he knows I do. He has his own watch box (kids watches) and loves to look at mine, calls them the “fancy watches”. I am hoping he will continue to enjoy watches but maybe he won’t, or maybe not to the extent I do and won’t want all the watches. I wear my watches often and regularly so he associates them with memories of growing up…not just a watch kept in a box but something that dad wore to events/holiday/etc.

This has impacted my collecting philosophy as I have gravitated towards collecting in pairs, with the “plan” to have him start wearing them as an adult and we can “match.” For instance 2 Daytonas, 2 Speedmasters, 2 Royal oaks, 2 Grand Complications. (NB: I need one more Nautilus for this).
