First, we are not here aware of the "secrets" but the discontinuation is official on the morning Baselworld starts: this is where the embargo date is fixed and when the official Patek Philippe website is updated with the collections.
Hence, when a reference has disappeared from their site, it is discontinued.
About your AD, this is his responsability but I'm not sure he was allowed to do this. Just my guess.
Of course, this doesn't mean that an AD cannot use this list to inform a client that one of the references he is thinking about for a future purchase will be stopped soon.
However, I'm not in the loop of Patek's network

You can't go wrong with either but 5575
Both are great but 5575 is more versatile and I think easier on the eyes too. Love it but don't have it! One thing though, I don't think it is as easy to read the time on 5575.

About the servicing
I would maybe suggest to pay a visit to your Patek AD if you have one nearby and ask them what they think. They can tell you it needs servicing as they can tell you it can wait another X years. You can also wear it and wait until it doesn't work accuratel...

I think that the 5131G is my choice. Over time, the anniversary piece will be easier to find, due to the sheer number of pieces made, whereas the 5131G will remain a tight supply.
How many more 5575G's still to be produced?
I know the run is 1300 but wondered how long this sort of volume takes to produce?
Certainly all sold but I don't believe production is complete.
Are they numbered and sold sequentially?
Limited edition from Patek are not numbered
