Great point, the historical relevance of the Clous de Paris/hobnail bezel is indeed hard to overestimate within the Calatrava lineup! This specific Rare Handcraft will be part of the new reference 5189G.

Yep, that's our gorgeous 5326G, from the events last year....too bad that Patek wanted it back! :-)) A couple of better pictures:

PS: Out of full accuracy, since this new model has officially been listed as a 5189G (I believe the main difference with the 5177G concerns size -- more on this later), I just modified my reply with "5189G" in lieu of "5177G" ;-) Cheers.

Correct, that is certainly also a difference (neither “our” nor any other 5177 does have a hinged dust cover)…in fact, this 5177/5189 variation is fully consistent with the earlier 5077/5089 reference change (metals and other details aside)👍

interesting so the 5189G will be basically a 6119G just with the rare handcraft components- same size (39mm) and movement (hand wound)? Also, lovely collection of the rare handcraft books/ catalogues you have there

Interestingly, this is not the first time Patek offers an original set of hands on a Rare Handcraft, consistent with the spirit of the theme (see, e.g., Ref. 5077P-058 below)....but it's a detail I no doubt look forward to seeing in person! :-) Cheers.

Dear Friends, a few more details on the 2023 Rare Handcrafts Exhibit (April 1-15, Patek Salons) and on the gorgeous new 5189G-001 from the "teaser"....which combines enamel and miniature painting techniques (some similarities with Boccadasse! ;-))
