I owned the Nautilus ... way back when the 5711 first came out. I was surprised at the finish, first and foremost. I could tell, the bracelet finish was not going to age well. There was a flimsiness to it as well that made me shake my head... I sold it pretty fast. Now, of course, regardless of the realities of the watch, resale value is such that it just blinds. But Patrick's comment is spot on.This watch is so hyped... I've mostly given up attempting to admonish potential buyers... because one assumes the purchase is simply about resale now. But it is a great looking watch. Owning an AP RO, I have to say, the difference in all aspects is night and day. Just for a reference. While AP RO is equally hyped and crazily over-valued now... it--at least--is a near perfect watch and maybe even exceeds expectations. Finally, not bashing Nautilus--but I felt Patrick's comment was worth underlining.

This is a no-brainer. I’m sure you will love it. Versatile, classy, sporty, elegant etc. If you don’t like it, you still can flip it at double list price. Best, V.

When I try on a watch and I like it, 99% of the time I will go for it. And the Nautilus is so classy.

I think it's a nice watch at retail prices. Utterly bonkers at secondary market prices.

Buy what you like. I never understood a Nautilus. Thats because i like the Aquanaut. No ears on the Aquanaut made it for me.

Agreed Mostel, that bracelet is a nightmare!
A nice looking but totally impractical design. The polished parts STICK UP and get scratched, while the brushed parts are below where they won't get scratched... Exactly the opposite way to do it!
I think you are judging by the design only: the Oddyseus offers much more watchmaking than the 5711.
I personally would buy the Lange, than the 5711. The 5711 is quite collectable since recently and that is a big part of its charme.

I will dissent. I own one and wore it for 5 years. A lovely watch for sure, but overhyped in my view all things considered. Not robust. Easily damaged. Repair/service cost extortionate. This is not a grand complication. Flimsy clasp.
As a sports watch is there is more robust and finer watches. But only when you own and wear it can you form a proper opinion. Best R

I find it odd that multiple customers are passing on it, full well knowing it represents an immediate check written to them personally by Thierry Stern for at least $30k. Something is off. If someone is in financial straights and can’t afford a Nautilus
Certainly they would look to capitalize on the market. I would buy another 5711 at retail, but not a penny more
If they have a good relationship with the AD then the quick flip is something they would likely shy away from.
I know for me I've been offered several easily flipped watches this year from my AD and I took none of them. For this very reason. I may be naive, but the AD appreciated the opportunity to go to the next person and potentially make them very happy and hop...
