New 2024 Speedmaster FOIS
As a huge Speedmaster fan, and owner of a 321 Ed White reissue, I have mixed feelings on this release. On its own, I love it. A bunch of throw back and housed in a beautiful straight lug case. However, they have put too many similarities with the 321. The 321 was a standout in the collection (obviously still is with the movement) being drastically different from the current Speedy offerings.
What do you all think of the new FOIS?

Like it but not sure too many variants of the same thing.
I like it, not as much as the 321 of course, but I don't quite understand the need for so many SKUs. Omega is starting to become Panerai with endless little variations which takes away excitement of this and probably future models.
Very nice.
I particularly like the blue/grey dial, although my preference would be for whiter lume rather than fauxtina. All the best. Jon

But from what I have read the R&D spend is relatively low. And if small outfits of ten people or less can do it then it really should not be beyond a large multinational like Swatch - who also have the advantage of being able to do everything themselves. ...
You cannot compare Microbrands with literally „no“ workforce and „all outsourced“ scheme with a mature 2000+ FTE „do all insourced“ company.
Look at PP, AP, VC, …, … - non of them are releasing new volume models easily.

Don’t get me wrong - it certainly works in the short run, when your customers still remember the original from their youth and you recreate that era for them. But the question is what will today’s customers want to connect to in 30 years? Let’s hope it do...

Design-wise this is my favourite current production Speedmaster. With the blue dial it reminds me of the Speedmaster “TV” reference 176.0014 from the 1970s.
If Omega chose to reissue that watch, then I’d be an immediate buyer! On top of that, Omega would marry the integrated bracelet sports watch genre with the iconic Speedmaster name. I can only see a double-win for Omega but I do recognise I am very likely ...
