As a huge Speedmaster fan, and owner of a 321 Ed White reissue, I have mixed feelings on this release. On its own, I love it. A bunch of throw back and housed in a beautiful straight lug case. However, they have put too many similarities with the 321. The...  

I like it, not as much as the 321 of course, but I don't quite understand the need for so many SKUs. Omega is starting to become Panerai with endless little variations which takes away excitement of this and probably future models.

I particularly like the blue/grey dial, although my preference would be for whiter lume rather than fauxtina. All the best. Jon

I have the Ed White re-edition and would happily own this one as well.

But what about leaving the past to rest for let’s say 30 years or so and try something new in the meantime? 🤪🤞🏻

The question is how long you can keep squeezing the lemon. If the next generation couldn’t care less about a handful of watches having been somewhere decades before they were born you suddenly get a corporate life or death issue. And by then the skills to... 

But from what I have read the R&D spend is relatively low. And if small outfits of ten people or less can do it then it really should not be beyond a large multinational like Swatch - who also have the advantage of being able to do everything themselves. ... 

Look at PP, AP, VC, …, … - non of them are releasing new volume models easily.

Did not mean micro brands that buy everything in, more those who do things themselves and still create their own movement. As for the larger ones having more of a challenge, sure thing - they tend to have to industrialize to scale and that takes additiona... 

Don’t get me wrong - it certainly works in the short run, when your customers still remember the original from their youth and you recreate that era for them. But the question is what will today’s customers want to connect to in 30 years? Let’s hope it do... 

When Biver poured in new life to the segment (amongst others), the movers and shakers were largely people who still lived through times, where mechanical watches were the only game in town. In a Veblenian sense they determined what was in and what not and...
