people seem to forget that the modern Rolex phenomenon (shortage) started around 2015 and the desire to have a modern Daytona started with the Zenith-based Daytonas.
Before that, dealers were literally GIVING AWAY 4 digit Daytonas if you bought a Day Date or other precious metal Rolexes.
I have MANY Daytonas in different iterations and ages as well as MANY Speedmasters with the same range so I think I qualify to give an honest assessment of both from the eyes of an owner.
Don't misunderstand me, I love the modern Daytona and think it is a great watch BUT again we are talking about historical significance spanning 60 - 70 years, not 20 - 30.
Of course the internet did not exist back then, nor did social media or we would have a VERY different view of events in the past 😁👍
