I already have 2 vintage Ed Whites but due to lack of parts for servicing and trying to replace it if anything happens, I rarely wear it. This is the reason I prefer modern watches to vintage models, regardless of brand or model.
With this modern re-edition, anyone could wear it without fear of replacement parts or damage and I am a fan of a sapphire crystal over a crystal in hesalite as it will be a daily wearer. If it were a vintage piece than I could see the hesalite argument BUT people have to realize this is a MODERN re-edition. For those stating that they prefer a hesalite crystal, think about the Zenith Daytonas which use sapphire crystals as apposed to the 6265s that used plastic ones. For me, it is the same argument but it seems no one is complaining about that 🤷♂️🤦♂️
Regardless of what people say or want to admit, this 321 Ed White re-edition is one of the most ANTICIPATED modern watches with true history. And with LESS than 2000 321 movements produced per year (allocated for several models in platinum, possibly in gold, and this Ed White).the supply will certainly be LESS than the demand.
People also seem to forget that Omega is HUGELY popular in Asia which means that there will be a HUGE demand for this Speedy as well.
I for one think the price of 13.200€ (13.000 chf) is fair considering the labor involved, R&D, and knowing that Omega has dedicated ONLY 1 facility for the production and repair of this modern 321.
I will definitely get one and have already received confirmation that I am 1st on the list from my local boutique. I might even get several for family and friends.
I just think it would make a great compliment to any vintage Ed White owner and regardless if you have the vintage model, it still is an amazing watch for what it is.
Think of another modern SS sports watch with the same history and heritage which has a cam-actuated column wheel movement with the same pedigree as a 321 for anywhere near the same price? My guess, there are NONE 🤪
