I ALMOST pulled the trigger again!

 

That means: I almost bought this watch.

I’ve been looking for a Worldtimer for a long time. I really looked around a lot and tried to get as much information as possible.
From Patek to Breguet, from Vacheron to GP, from GO to Nomos.

And I was always missing something. Because above all, I really want to be able to use this watch in all circumstances, regions and countries including business trips and holidays. For example especially in tropical and hot countries I don't do anything with a water resistance of 3 bar.

So the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Worldtimer came into focus.



This watch really stands out to me as (for me) the best I could find.

Including a really mesmerizing dial, great features and - for me- perfectly fitting on the wrist.

And yes, even the date window looks really good on both the blue dialed steel and white dialed red (“sedna”) gold version (in which I'm interested in).
At least in person I find the date window nicely integrated (in the photos it looks more striking than in reality). I'm not quite as keen on date windows as Nico, but I am. And here the entire dial is very consistent. Including a beautiful, laser-ablated world map made from a grade 5 titanium.

So I had inspected this watch “in natura” a few days ago, I had decided and now this gem was already waiting for me on the sales table.

And then the (small) disappointment: after unpacking the plastic film, a small scratch became visible on the bezel at around 6:00 a.m.

Probably even easy to polish off, but with a new watch just unpacked from the foil?

My credit card that had already been drawn went back into the wallet.

The sales staff (especially Mrs. Chen and Mr. Teng) at the Omega Boutique Vienna was extremely friendly and tried hard. They felt definitely very uncomfortable.

I took it with humour and stayed relaxed and reassured them: "A luxury problem. Cool down. It's just a watch and I'm sure it can be solved.” To be honest: I am very grateful for my life and that I can have such a problem at all. 🙏😊

I'll be called by the store manager on Monday how to proceed (probably a new model will be ordered).

I will keep you up to date.

What do you think of this watch model? It would be my first Omega. 😊

The sales lady unpacked the watch, I detected the scratch and then after that I wasn’t able to take another photo. So this „plastic shot“ is all I have for now.

That was what I also told to the sales staff. No they try l hard to solve the problem, then I would walk out of the shop and a few days later I would scratch the watch by myself. 😎 That would be the same result but a complete different feeling. To buy som...

On the other hand: what is waiting a few days compared to a perfect solution for years. I even considered having the watch polished a little and taking it with me right away. But then I just didn't want to have already polished the watch before wearing it...

The Sedna gold version convinced me. I also like here the wonderful contrast of the white dial to the the laser-made map. But a full gold watch with full gold bracelet would be too much for me. With the leather strap it feels more subtle.

diving or swimming. When the WR is higher, the protection against dust, mud, heavy rain, high humidity, high temperature differences is also better. It simply makes me feel more comfortable knowing my travel watch might take a beating too.

Indeed a huge universe. But I learned if you have clear requirements, what you expect from your travel world watch (features it must have for me like a WR of at least 10 bar and a PR of at least 72 hours), then the possible selection is rapidly reduced.

I tried on the steel version and liked it a lot. This WT takes a different approach, the time adjusts but the cities stay in the same place on the dial. I think that helps the watch price be more approachable. I hope a scratch less version finds you soon....
