Nice watch but!
Hi Tim,
We I am not an expert in watches but I have the JLC universal time and the re-edition of the 1958 geophysic watch that is not a true second.
I can tell you that I chose the universal time because it was an innovation to have a true second( I know that there are other brands that did this complication) but the universal time is a truly beautiful watch to own and wear. I goes nicely with a jeans on a relaxed sunday and very formel on suit and tie monday!
As for the re-edition of the 1958, well it’s a limited edition so you’re gonna pay the price for it. Then it’s for a different use. I wear it formel. Couldn’t wear it informel. Think of it as a classic ferrari. You should drive it to a black tie soirée. At least this is my impression.
So I agree with my fellows. The geophysic true second is not worth the money.
But watches are so personal,
My advice is go where the heart is. I try the watch more than 15 tines before buying it.

Have been thinking about the JLC Geophysic True Second for my next JLC.
But for some reason there is not a lot of love or attention given to that model on this forum (unless I have formed a mistaken impression). Any owners out there? I’d really appreciate some comments, etc. cheers

The 1958 Geophysic was an inspired clean-sheet design and perfectly proportioned for a 35mm watch. The new Geophysic True Second seems too large for its dial and case details. What seemed ideal in 35mm does not feel as warm or charming in 40mm - at least ...

I'm not an expert in watches, either. The Tribute to 1958 was handled more delicately than the True Second. Its proportions and details do make a difference, and many will consider it a cleaner effort than any Master Control with a date or the True Second...

I am really in line with your opinion on that watch.
Only to me 'geophysic' is less of a problem. I don't see it as comparable to the original one. To me it has the same DNA: technical, accurate. But with today's technology. As said somewhere else, it is on my top 3 reachable watches. If you like it, get it...

Not an owner but have tried it on a several times. It's grown on me. Sober charm is the name of the game I think. It's clean, and to me it would fit well in a design/architecture work setting. The UTT does tend to eclipse it.
Both true seconds are stronger offers than the Trubute to 1958 for me.

This watch just feels right to me.
Spend some time with it on your wrist. That’s when it really surprised me. The date window doesn’t bother me at all but that’s always a point of contention. Currently running at about +1/week after about a year.
