The 1958 Geophysic was an inspired clean-sheet design and perfectly proportioned for a 35mm watch. The new Geophysic True Second seems too large for its dial and case details. What seemed ideal in 35mm does not feel as warm or charming in 40mm - at least ...

I'm not an expert in watches, either. The Tribute to 1958 was handled more delicately than the True Second. Its proportions and details do make a difference, and many will consider it a cleaner effort than any Master Control with a date or the True Second...

Only to me 'geophysic' is less of a problem. I don't see it as comparable to the original one. To me it has the same DNA: technical, accurate. But with today's technology. As said somewhere else, it is on my top 3 reachable watches. If you like it, get it...

Spend some time with it on your wrist. That’s when it really surprised me. The date window doesn’t bother me at all but that’s always a point of contention. Currently running at about +1/week after about a year.

It is understated. Only the essentials (though could omit the date). It is about substance and not flashiness (in the ethos of the Geophysic). The casual observer will mistake it for something else entirely. Only the wearer and other select few will appre...
