... but I live by the rule that all my simple three-handers have to have a date window, be it an IWC Pilot, Nautilus, or Calatrava.
I am also in the minority of those who prefer a white date window on dark dials and I very much prefer the date window at the 3 position. In particular I don't like if a dial-colored date window fully replaces the marker at the 3 position as it looks as if sth is missing. A white date window nicely steps in for that marker on dark dials. Different story if the date window is located inside of the marker at the 3 position... Lastly, no date window at the 4:30 position for me ever...
Currently I am in the market for a diver and would get a Rolex if there was a Sub date w/o cyclops. Between Sub, Sub date, and SD4K, I like the SD4K but the valve is overkill for my needs. As a result I might go IWC Porsche Design Ocean 2000 if I can find a nice full set from the 1980s / 1990s...
