I suspect it will take some time for the luster that GS have in Japan, to be replicated here in North America. That prestige will still reside with the higher-end Swiss manufactures for a while. But I DO expect it to happen, similar to how Lexus has achieved for Toyota a quiet recognition as a premier automobile brand, against Mercedes and BMW (note I am not comparing to a Patek or a Roger Smith, perhaps the horological equivalents of an Aston Martin or a Caterham, there will always be higher level and bespoke lines such as these).
I believe Seiko's GS models will win over an increasing number of watch lovers, including purists, based on the understated elegance, high quality, and consistent delivery of high expectations froms uch a watch. The most recent Spring Drive GS models do help move it into "current" consideration, for many who found the earlier watches far too "invisible" for their tastes - although my own collection is more lower end (becoming more focused on vintage Seikos), these recent GS models have certainly made me look and take notice.
Again, thanks for the well written post. Cheers from Canada,
Harry
