When you are one of the wealthiest people in the world, building a world class collection of anything is quick and effortless.
Literally just pay someone relatively irrelevant gobs of money to get whatever you want. Factors of tens of millions of $$ are literally irrelevant at their net worths.
The flip side is they lose much of the joy of true collecting - relationships made, the thrill of the chase, stories behind each watch etc

So totally understandable his new found fascination for mechanical watches. I have to say his taste is nice. all pieces are definitely beautiful and horologically significant.
Of course one can’t mature taste to make that kind of journey in 6 months
And I would think every minute of his schedule is occupied. I highly doubt he does his own watch shopping.

Dont know his history in the watch game. Maybe he was a silent collector but for what i hear he bought most of them through a well know company who is also owner of some independent brands .
