In my humble opinion
he is no uber-collector, not even a real collector, just a guy with an obscene amount of wealth starting to hoard watches. Show him 5 watches with 4 of them being frankens or bad fakes and I would be surprised if he knew which one was the "real deal". Being so rich that you can accumulate a number of expensive pieces quickly does not make you a collector of anything, but what do I know. If he really is into the watch hobby and is passionate about it I am happy for him but a person with a collection of 5 sub-10k$ watches that are all hard to find vintage pieces in impeccable condition is a lot more interresting for me.

So totally understandable his new found fascination for mechanical watches. I have to say his taste is nice. all pieces are definitely beautiful and horologically significant.
Of course one can’t mature taste to make that kind of journey in 6 months
And I would think every minute of his schedule is occupied. I highly doubt he does his own watch shopping.

Did people expect him to wear a Hamilton or a datejust?! We can agree that owning those high end pieces doesn't automatically make him a knowledgeable collector, but nor is he claiming to be one.

Dont know his history in the watch game. Maybe he was a silent collector but for what i hear he bought most of them through a well know company who is also owner of some independent brands .
