NOTICE to all watch enthusiasts from anywhere in the world who gather here

Jan 06, 2020,22:37 PM

We appreciate your presence and your contributions to our site whose focus is appreciation of watches (and related subjects of automobiles, food, wine, and photography)

We strive to keep this a congenial meeting place, non-commercial and non-argumentaive. Come in, slip off your shoes, put up your feet, relax back in the sofa and share your hobby with others.

What we can not tolerate are provocative postings that by intention or accident result in baiting other members or visitors. We cannot allow continual focus on issues that are divisive or designed to agitate each other.

Accordingly we sometimes find it necessary to BAN visitors who repeatedly test the boundaries, as if they were rebellious teenagers fighting their parents or schoolteachers. Today at the start of a new year, we have to ban a visitor who has frequently stimulated conversation in a negative way, and caused much trouble.

Please respect our Terms of Conduct which we have reproduced below.

Thank you.

Mike  aka Cazalea / Managing Editor & Moderator

TERMS OF CONDUCT

This site is a celebration to a commitment of excellence and quality of life. We hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity. Individuals that use the these forums to manipulate events to their own advantage is unacceptable.

Please try to resolve your service and quality issues prior to posting complaints. The moderator team is available offline to assist. It is our joint responsibility to fairly present all sides of every situation.

People sometimes use the promise of a glowing watch review to gain access to products, discounts or gifts from watch companies and watchmakers. Your moderators agree to never accept gifts or special favors, beyond what the brands provide to general customers and members of the press and we expect our members to maintain the same standards. Please take this into consideration in all your dealings with companies or watchmakers so that we never compromise.

Some simple guidelines for participants of this forum:

Please note that all official or self-promoting announcements, press releases, or posts must be submitted to a moderator or (remove the spaces) admin @ watchprosite .com. Any posts or announcements which are not so submitted, but posted directly to the discussion forums, may be deleted without notice.

Range of topics: Please keep the topic somewhat related to the brand or stated topic of the specific forum. Discussions about company heritage, tradition, philosophy, and policies are also apropos.

Have fun. There are no dumb questions, just questions that haven't found an answer yet.

Tone: Please keep the tone of the posts courteous and respectful. Think of this as a virtual cocktail or dinner party - don't write anything that you wouldn't say to someone in person. The anonymity of the internet is not an acceptable excuse for boorish or rude behaviour.

Rule of thumb: word your posts as if it were directed at you. This includes posts directed at companies rather than individuals.

Posts about street prices and seller references: Connoisseurship, ownership and collecting is about much more than price and who sells what. Price and seller references tend to overwhelm the other more subtle, though equally important aspects of the aficionado experience.

Outside links to other websites are permitted on the site as long as they are relevant to the discussion on hand. Links to commercial sites such as Ebay, dealer sites, etc. are strictly prohibited - posts with these links will be edited or deleted, with or without notification.

Embargo dates are to be respected. Any post which violates embargo dates will be deleted without notice.

Shilling (intentionally promoting a watch you have for sale) is not allowed and will be deleted. Items listed in the Collectors Market cannot be posted to other forums here.

Announcement of any get-together (GTG) in the forum is prohibited unless WatchProSite staff are involved in the GTG. If no WatchProSite staff is involved, the GTG post will be deleted without notice.

WatchProSite reserves the right to edit or delete any post which does not comply with the above Terms of Conduct. WatchProSite reserves the right to ban any individual after due consideration.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION

Well, as a moderator for 12 years, now, I only banned three members. But I am in total agreement with you, Mike. All these posts about belonging to middle class and money...

Started to be too much. Several warnings have been addressed to this member, but alas he didn't take them seriously and went on " polluting " our home in such a tasteless way that we couldn't tolerate this anymore. It was a sad but mandatory decision fo t...

Thank you for your reminder, Mike.

I know my reply to that certain person was very rude but I felt it was necessary. Best, V.

And you did right. [nt]

Does the first picture show actual members on a GTG? I love the spirit of this picture.

 By: Reuven Malter : January 6th, 2020-09:03
Btw, does the last picture show an actual member too? Then i would probably decline the invitation to a GTG.

:))) [nt]

 By: amanico : January 6th, 2020-09:04

The first picture does show some people who are visitors here and an independent watchmaker

Thank you so much for this post. A community is all about respect and clear rules of the game. And thank you so much for allowing me to participate.

PS- I’m not happy about people been banned but I agree wholeheartedly with the decision to ban someone who has been advised and nevertheless kept posting the same obnoxious post over and over. And please let us know about upcoming gtg as I might just show...

Fine with me...!

So watchprosite is on control. Opinions vary from person to person. I am not here for discussions. I am here to enjoy watches with other members.

Agree 💯 percent.

By: Costa (aka Connie) : January 6th, 2020-13:17
It’s all about watches and their histories. That is what has kept me coming back for many years. And many more to come I am sure.

Thanks for keeping this site fun, safe, congenial, and interesting!

Looking forward to your next visit... there are a couple of watch enthusiasts in Tokyo and it would make for a fun evening. Casey

I think I missed all this “fun”, or I’d already filtered it out.

It’s not ideal when people need to be banned but that’s a decision to be made by management and moderators in the best interests of the community as a whole. Sometimes there is no debate about these offenses and resulting repercussions and sometimes it’s ...

There are at least two kinds of get-togethers.

FOR EXAMPLE We had to ensure a safe venue, no advance warning of the exact location and time of meeting, allowable behaviour, etc. Robbery, violence, damage to another member's property, accidents due to drink and drive, etc. are definitely NOT what we wa...

Perhaps in in USA in a central location like Chicago and another in a European location like Paris. I am from the Boston are and would very much like to attend events like this. It would be nice to meet people in the forum.

Bravo!👍 [nt]

Thank you mods

 By: Brego : January 6th, 2020-22:47
I’m not a regular poster, but when I do, I enjoy the level of civilised, informative, and polite interaction that goes on here. And that is so sorely lacking most other places online. So I appreciate your efforts and commend you for your wonderful site. ...

Quality not quantity..

 By: Centurionone : January 6th, 2020-23:32
If it is the member that bombarded the forum with multiple repetitive posts daily and talked about his Dickensian origins, then I feel relieved that he is gone. It had become tedious.

You are correct and I Agree with you. [nt]
