I think get something in your budget
Figure out exactly how much you can spend, more is likely but not always better. Then buy something that is useful and that you love. As others have said you will want more than one watch. I like the idea of a Grand Seiko because they're good value, interesting, less common and reasonable to maintain. Keep in mind, as your learn more and wear different watches you'll find that your taste changes. I thought I was a Rolex guy through and through and my first purchase was a 214270 Explorer. Now I'm selling it even though I thought I never would. It's just not me.

Long time visitor potentially first time buyer looking for an advice

The omega is no slouch. It is a watch that has history, allure, class etc. It will serve you well and is 1/2 to 1/4 of the price of the Daytona. If you can swing it enjoy a nice vintage Omega Speedy it should retain it value and you can sell in in a coupl...
