Something tells me that you are not the person who will stop with one watch, Daytona or otherwise. In which case you might want to consider starting with the Omega, as it may allow you additional watches sooner. If you save up for the Daytona for several years (laudable) and then have an itch for more, which you will also need equally long to scratch, that may be frustrating.
As I said, may - you will know yourself best and often in such cases the decision has already been made in your heart of hearts

Long time visitor potentially first time buyer looking for an advice
Hello all, I am 25, and over last few years, watches went from something i was "kinda" interested in, to a complete obsession. It got so bad that over the last year I probably check in on the feed every hour or so just to see whats the latest and greatest...
Go for the one. Save for the one. This is not that this Omega is a bad watch...
This is just that it didn't steal your heart like the Daytona did. So, save for the one you really like. When short in money, no time for the second choices. Best, and welcome here! Nicolas
I will take the other side of the coin. There is no right or wrong.
The omega is no slouch. It is a watch that has history, allure, class etc. It will serve you well and is 1/2 to 1/4 of the price of the Daytona. If you can swing it enjoy a nice vintage Omega Speedy it should retain it value and you can sell in in a coupl...

Personally, I would go for a vintage handwind Speedmaster. I have one from 1971 and it's a great piece and never fails, it also has the kind of style that can fit into any occasion. As stated before, it won't depreciate in price. The Daytona is nice, but ...

I know that money is really important for a young man who wants to enter in the high horology field. If I can give you only one advice is to let your heart talk.
If you must wait for a long time before buying the watch you absolutely want to own and wear... well, it worth to wait IMHO. But, you will see, you will not want to own only one watch ;-) Best wishes Alkiro
You most definitely will not stop at 1 watch.
The wait for the Daytona will be long, and you will drive yourself crazy waiting. You will constantly be looking at people's watches, wishing you had something... So, my advice is to get the Speedy. You will not regret this being the foundation for your f...
