Horological Meandering

Was looking at some movement from several brands and wondered which one I like the most. If money didn't matter, which one do you think is the most beautiful ? I saw Lange, Patek, Breguet, Blancpain, independants . And this one was my favorite the way it...  

I need to divide that in at least two categories Most beautiful simple - time only movement and most beautiful movement with complications and I think that most beautiful round and rectangular movement should have their own categories I have few more divi...  

I agree. There is just something about the graceful lines and curves of the Patek chronographs that, IMO, make their movements the most beautiful--beyond even Lange's chronographs (although the double split is a wonder to behold). But of course the Lange ... 

but if we talk about Patek, I would go for this one ... cal. 27-525 PS (or ... Q). It is probably the best you can get from Patek, today. But there still is the Simplicity, the Duality, the 1815 Chronograph ... :-) ...

as a GP fan, my dream movement is this Rattrapante, GP-modified Venus 179 movement. Found in Ref 9012. CC ...  

I should correct myself, the Ref is actually 9017. There are some reports in the archive by the legendary PeterCDE on this.

what's the most beautiful but the movement of 5170 you showed to us is for sure the most beautiful movement I own. Best, Kari

5170 has a nice movement but this is something else, it s a split second perpetual.... think about the 5204

That is a beautifully finished movement. But have you seen the Montblanc Villeret movements? Especially the 16-29 movement. Mouthwatering. I could argue that this movement may be even more beautiful in person. But your Patek Philippe movement is exception...

Such a beautiful architecture! In that idea that Girard Perregaux "tourbillon sous 3 ponts d'or" iteration Breguet pocket watches from the old master have some amazing architectures thinking of some "in line" calibers or souscription, the job done on the ...  

Although I admire the beauty in the complexity of many of the chronograph movements posted above, I find the simpler movements tugging more on my heartstrings. One of my favorites has to be the MB&F Legacy Machine 2 And then any movement from Lang &am...  

In terms of finish, this is a Champion... ...

The Lange double split is the winner for me. Simply superb.

Love this thread, many superlative images of stunning calibers, most of the amazing current calibers made by both Indies and the big brands. For my choices, I have selected a few choice movts... Marco's superb work... The one chrono from my best of pics.....

Agree with you on the Breguet dial. And that Rebillier is truly incredible especially considering it was made in 1855. The Girard Perregaux pieces pictured here are the most beautiful movements pictured in the thread so far in my opinion. Seeing the pictu... 

what a beautiful landscape is and he will show you a productive field… In horology this equated to the best time keepers and those did not tend to be bad looking either. Among the under 30mm I would think of the 30T2Rg's, the Zenith 135's, the Longines 30...
