I think the Purist site tends to focus more consistently on Haute Horology (the leading edge of the art, whether it be techncial, classical or otherwise). Its members tend more consistently to be, to site the name of the forum, "purists". In my opinion, TZ allows a bit more focus on "bling", the "latest and greatest" and trivial debates about "mine is better than yours..." or "this or that....". Not to say any site is perfect, but this site is just, well, more sober and focused. To me, Purist just tends to cultivates a more serious and educated dialogue, among more series horologists, about a higher level of watch.
On top of that, 'some' moderators on TZ (we won't mention names...) can be a bit of a pill....for further verification thereof please reread the postings above by mrsnak and rishad771, with which I concur.
Finally, one thing I'm increasing noticing and liking, about Purist is the extensive geographic and cultural diversity of those who post. I really like and appreciate that because it better informs my opinions and judgments.
