that's only my opinion :P I'm afraid you will never have any satisfy answer with a question like this. Is like asking what's the best ice cream flavor of the world. However I will say this, "I like it here in PuristSPro." Is it the best? I don't know but ...

I had a post deleted on the AHCI forum last year with no contact or email. I can certainly accept it could have been against policy, in fact I said so in the post. But I wad still shocked not to receive a message.

I can't comment on this specific post, Greg. Perhaps the Moderator who deleted it thought you were expecting it and knew the answer already?! All I can say is that I try to let people know by PM if I have had to delete their post, and I think the other Mo...

I find this one congenial for a wide range of topics and one of the others for a particular specialized forum. There are some who have very strong opinions about a particular watch site or even a particular forum on a watch site, and some who seem to expe... 

are probably the biggest problem with any forum. Same with overbearing rules. When intelligent discourse is crippled by either one of these factors, the forum becomes less relevant. They then become only populated by the forum favorites and their follower...

Posts here don't get deleted without warning or explanation. They are always left up with a moderator's comment as to why they were either edited or locked. I also must say that none of these are ever done on the basis of the moderator's personal opinion.... 

You can edit your posts here (albeit for a short time) There is an edit your post button on TZ, but clicking it (even seconds after posting) returns with "you cannot edit post". Annoys me to no end ;-) Never figured out why they left the button in place.

So no prizes for which I think it more suited for me. Note I said suited, not better. I will be totally honest here, and don't worry mods, I will be diplomatic, and NOT raise anything controversial. I like TZ for the sticky articles they have, though a lo... 

I think the Purist site tends to focus more consistently on Haute Horology (the leading edge of the art, whether it be techncial, classical or otherwise). Its members tend more consistently to be, to site the name of the forum, "purists". In my opinion, T...

I have posted on both and have been a fairly active member (until recently!) on TZ. They both have their good points and a lot of the same discussions, is Purist better than the other... depends what you are looking for! I think they are both fairly globa...

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so sorry to hear that you can no longer participate on your favorite watch forum. I can understand the whole wanting an identity on the site thing. When I first joined, I wasn't really thinking and just used my name.....

I first met Howard on a completely different site and have always found him to be a true gent. I enjoy both sites and have learnt a great deal from both. But if I was to be asked "which site do I start looking at first" then my answer would be "THIS ONE"

You bring a smart, fresh face to TZ. Although I was bit surprised, given your participation on DWC (the Animal House of watch forums). I figured you must have had a good connection with the TZ management to begin with.

...Michael will ask me to tender my resignation. ;-) But seriously, this raises an excellent point regarding the different fora available for watch enthusiasts. Your "Animal House" description of the DWC is an apt one, and while I certainly do appreciate ... 

You are correct about how we adapt to the tone of each one if we want to be part of it. This one has more of a specific philosophy (I've heard it referred to even as a "society" - maybe from its Asian origins) than most. It took me a little longer to find...

The threshold question we all have to ask ourselves - and it has nothing to do with the comparative qualities of different sites - is: 'does it behove a member of this community (i.e. a Purist) to ask or answer such a question?' Cheers, pplater.

As we often do when asking questions about comparing watches from different brands, I suggest asking the same question on tz in order to get as well rounded and answer as possible.
