The 911 has so much camber on the rear tires, and the tires are so wide, that you have a large amount of grip. But because the engine is behind the rear axle, there's that pendulum effect. I can generally feel the Boxster or Cayman step out, and it's very easy to catch on those cars, the shorter wheelbase makes it easy to catch. The mid-engine layout is also more tame than the rear engine. The 911 is definitely much harder to drive at the limit compared to the Boxster/Cayman. When it steps out, it's usually quite violent and immediate, very little warning.
