Porsche 911 Sport Classic 2022.

May 01, 2022,16:28 PM

A limited edition of 1250 pieces.

The specificities?

A rear spoiler ala 911 RS 2, 7.

An interior which reminds me some 911 from the 60's / 70's.

A 3, 7 liter bi turbo engine, providing 550 HP ( not the most powerful ), but coupled to a 7 manual gear box AND Rear Wheel Drive.

And.. a heavy retail price: 280, 000 Euros.

Some good ideas here... Especially the manual 7 gear box and the power on the rear wheels.

Do we have some lucky owners, here?

Best,

Nicolas

I think I’m just gonna crawl back into my 997

😂 beautiful car ! But wow wow wow on the price. Best Gatsby

What I thought!

Maybe but I don’t remember having to wait or pay way over premium for these…

Except recent years for those GTx / GTx RS by some dealers, not all ask for more over retail.

I know right! 👍

;)

Crazy price given what other P cars can be bought for the price.

But limited edition will sell out for sure.

997 is the last "real" (aka dangerous) Porsche...

 By: patrick_y : May 1st, 2022-18:13
If you make a mistake in the 997, the car will spin. Anything 991 and later is so easy to drive, and the traction control is so good, that the car will catch you and prevent you from spinning the car. I was at a Porsche event on the race track (I posted i...

I find it very invasive on my AMG...

 By: patrick_y : May 1st, 2022-20:58
On my AMG, the ESP clamps down the inside turn rear brake all the time, and much too forcefully, even for relatively "normal" turns at "normal" speeds. Very aggressive, and very poorly modulated. It should come on more gradually. In the Porsche 997, I rec...

911 you don't feel it coming as much...

 By: patrick_y : May 1st, 2022-21:23
The 911 has so much camber on the rear tires, and the tires are so wide, that you have a large amount of grip. But because the engine is behind the rear axle, there's that pendulum effect. I can generally feel the Boxster or Cayman step out, and it's very...

Here in Northern California, they're all hidden!

 By: patrick_y : May 1st, 2022-20:56
It's rare to see them. And all the "nice" cars like Ferraris are once a month cars. In the UK, I even see people driving their Ferraris in the rain! In Northern California, that'd be unheard of! GT3s are definitely sold here, but just not commonly driven....

Crazy to read that.

Yep, I agree.

:)

Indeed!

 By: patrick_y : May 2nd, 2022-16:29
And even then, you still see some nice cars driving about! They just have to drive a little slower on account that the super-wide tires will aquaplane if they drive through a deep puddle!

They're not necessary in an Alpine...

 By: patrick_y : May 2nd, 2022-17:27
On a lighter car like an Alpine, a wider tire would add significant mechanical grip, but when traction breaks, it'll be super violent. Considering the short wheelbase in an Alpine, I would opt for a more conservative tire package. However, on a heavier ca...

It's a lot of power!

 By: patrick_y : May 2nd, 2022-18:13
The Alpine sounds like it's just right, not over-tired, not under-tired. With modern tire technology, tires have gotten so much grippier in the past 10 years, that 245mm for 300 hp is very doable, especially considering the light weight of the car, the 21...

Hard to say... I feel they overdid it on this one...

 By: patrick_y : May 1st, 2022-18:09
It's so hard to say, but to me, this one is just overdone. I like the Houndstooth, but on the doors? If you look at the 911 R from a few years ago, that featured Houndstooth, I feel that one was just perfect. Also the 911 50th Anniversary Edition 2013 was...

Or a good old 997...

...but that price🫣

+1. No... + 100!

Porsche has lost its creativity for the 911 over the last 15 years and will not gain it back

 By: penfriend : May 1st, 2022-18:40
This is just again a copy-cat of something they did with the 997. Absolutely boring and just reaching for dumb money imho. But after 17 years of ownership ranging from regular 911 to 959 they lost me as a customer many years ago. It is not smart to built ...

Cayman GT4 is a nice car

 By: penfriend : May 1st, 2022-21:05
but overall, these new p-cars lack soul at every inch of their chassis

In any case you should not look left or right

 By: penfriend : May 2nd, 2022-17:33
as your Alpine is much purer than this stuff, also compared to a 997

I wish 🙏🏻😬

Such a uber cool Porsche

A PuristS' Favorite?

Possibly 😉👌🏻

Love everything about this, especially the duck tail..

 By: jp884 : May 2nd, 2022-16:29
But these will all go to the 918 owners and I expect that if and when they hit the open market they will be well above $500K. Talking to one of my dealers this weekend they told me that they are marking up their standard GT3's by $75k as that is where the...

Indeed, waiting to one day inherit my fathers widow maker.

The notable 996 GT2 in midnight blue. Although I pray for that to be a LONG wait so there is plenty of driving to share between him and I.
