Dear Fellow Purists,
We are all collectors, which in itself means a healthy amount of OCD behaviour and procrastination (well, at least for me it does). But ever so often, there are days when one is just not in the mood to engage the brain to chose a watch in the morning. When it's just nice to have a go-to watch, one you that suits your lifestyle, and that's going to make you happy through the day no matter what life throws at you. I was curious to see what it would be for the rest of our community.
So go ahead and show us the watch you pick when you go in auto pilot mode. I guess it could be more than one watch, but in order to keep things focused, and not defeat the purpose of the theme, let's keep the entries to a maximum of two watches.
Here are my entries:
I've had this Datejust for about a year, and it's quickly become my go-to watch. The one I wear in the morning for a swim, at the office with a jacket, later at the gym or at a smart dinner. There's virtually nothing, no occasion it can't handle. I know, it's the same model that probably 20 million people across the world are wearing, but it stands a reason: it is such a good design, half way between dress and sport, it can be anything one wants.
Before that, it was this Explorer II 16570. Nothing special about it, just a nice, warm patina on the hands and indices. And it's always been my favorite sports model because of its practicality and discretion. Not quite as versatile as the Datejust for more formal occasions, but still very, very good.
So here you are, these are my picks.
I'm very, very much looking forward to seeing yours.
