Stuff that kept me going in 2020

The thing that affected me most in 2020, and going into 2021, is the limitations imposed on sports in Hong Kong. We went through multiple phases of gyms and swimming pools and tennis courts being shut down, and this has adverse effects on both my fitness and my psychological health. At least we still have hiking, and are so blessed to be in a city that's world class for the trails it has.
But on the flip side, I started to learn the bass guitar, and that was a worthwhile investment of my time. Just the process of learning, and the discipline that comes from practice, was very enjoyable. Plus they are beautiful objects, and it will be difficult to not fall in the same rabbit hole of collecting basses as I did with watches.
On the horological side, I would summarise it with: "The Beauty and the Beast". I fell hard for the Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955, which I acquired mid-year and gives me great joy. Such a perfect blend of classicism and quirkiness, with a fabulous execution. And then in the last days of 2020, I got the Sinn U50, after almost 8 months of wait. It's everything I would want in a tool watch, but the red accents add a touch of fun to the otherwise hardcore utilitarian design. I suspect they will both get a lot of wrist time in 2021.
