My dream car is something time has been erasing - bringing fine examples to rust and dust. It is so costly to maintain a vintage car.
Here it is, the old W123 model.

But why? It’s not the fastest, most lux, or state-of-the-art piece. I used to live next door to a very dilligent lawyer. I’m sure he could have afforded better cars, but he chose an old W123 for his daily commutes. Like clockwork, he rose early, and started this car up to warm up before driving slowly to work.
He was a man who cared for this family first, and lastly himself. His hair was cut by his wife in a neat predictable style. He liked to drag home trolleys of legal books to read daily. He would sit on his chair at home and read for hours.
Years later, I worked in a small boutique hotel and bumped into him. He showed me his office with a dozen staff in his legal team, perched in an old office in prime real estate in Singapore. This brought me greater respect for this man.
If I had that car, in perfect condition, I guess the only watch in my collection which suits that mantra/lifestyle/discipline might be the GP Laureato I have. Or if I had funds to choose other matching pieces, the Parmigiani Tonda PF or Lange up/down would be spot on matches to this classic car.
