Synthetic parts
If people gauge these movements and their competitors by standards defined by the higher level brands, they will be up for a disappointment when it comes to sophistication and workmanship. On the other hand, if relating to these and this level for what it actually is, you will find a few qualities that actually are desirable.
Synthetic materials are not inferior. On the contrary, the right material for the right purpose will add certain qualities. Some synthetic materials ("plastics" is a generic term which tells absolutely zero about the actual performance for various applications) would perform way better than various metals. Can be lighter, have less friction, be more durable and not influenced by magnetism to mention some.
These movements can be both serviced and adjusted, and one likely effect from the use of the synthetic parts in question would be less need for service and repairs. Quite beneficial when dealing with budget bread and butter mechanical watches as the 2nd hand values are low relative to the cost of watchmaker man hours required to service them. That`s why it makes sense to industrialise the service by replacing movements too.
For the entire present / most recent series of these ETA movements, they have a pretty great reputation for reliability and precision. Some people prefer different movements or different iterations from other manufacturers and some prefer other watches than the Swatch brand pieces bestowing these movements. Raising above that and relating to movement only at the budget/craft level they actually belong to, these are probably the technically best you can get. And that would be valid for the lower tier synthetic parts iterations too.
These movements are not an disadvantage for Tissot/Hamilton/Certina/Mido/++. On the contrary, these are one of their greatest advantages. There`s no way around enjoying or taking a dislike to design/style and so on thus affection or different preferences may lead people to other brands. If people do like some watches from Swatch, they can be fairly confident that the movements won`t let them down. And they will get precision way better than COSC permits too. In fact, I believe many owners of these movements would be considering a service if they dropped to COSC performance.
