No clicking sound when winding my brand new Traditionnelle?

Jan 22, 2022,23:33 PM

Hi

Just picked up a brand new traditionnelle with caliber 4400 AS, I noticed when I wind the watch, instead the crisp clicking sound like my Lange I only feel the “resistance” of winding but no sound, when I wind it counterclockwise it actually have the clicking sound I am familiar with winding manual wind watches, is that normal? So far the watch works and keeps decent time

Thanks

Steven

I own the platinum with slate dial and it winds with no sound like yours. I had another Traditionnelle, much older edition which i traded in the VC program with watchfinder, and it was totally different and loud. I don't think this is a problem but if you...

the winding difference between the old and new watch was so pronounced I turned over the watch and looked at the movement with a loop while winding; I was relieved to see the gear train and escapement moving. The feel of the two watches during winding cou...

Interesting, so something changes mechanically?

It may not change mechanically...

Hello! I just picked up a VC Traditionnelle manual wind (pre-owned from 2019). My winding experience sounds (no pun intended) identical to yours. It is silent. The watch keeps great time (-1s/day) and I am still learning when the watch is fully wound. I s...

Congrats first of all on your new piece. You’re right, the 4500 AS movement doesn’t make any noise when wound apart from the dial back when crown is released, or resistance when fully wound. It’s totally normal. Enjoy it.

I have been meaning to reply to this post. I own two models with a 4400 caliber

There is actually nothing wrong with your watch. They wind smoother than silk. Enjoy it it’s a wonderful time peace

In short, it is absolutely normal. And you can wind, and should wind both directions of the crown. I discussed it with the factory years ago and they explained they had two mechanisms available, one for premium versions (see platinum at the time) and one ...
