Great way to start the day
with a lovely vintage V&C. I know this watch from some years ago! The dial demonstrates many techniques; minute and seconds markings en réserve, galvanized base with contrasting brushing, applied gold numerals, a tour-de-force from 1946. Is "Vacheron & Constantin Geneve" incised into the dial or over-printed?
Although it was only made necessary by wartime shortages of precious metals, V&C's two-tone watches now provide the vintage collector with a beautiful contrast. Their lower numbers don't hurt collectibility either. I believe the bezel is 14k on this piece?
The strap and buckle have been updated but these are wear items, as is the crown, and bound to be replaced over the life of a watch that was worn and not kept in a drawer.
Good idea to seek out the correct style of crown. I may be able to help, shoot me a PM with the crown tube size. Over time you may want to gather a period-correct strap, in calf or fabric, and compliment with a 14mm square steel buckle for the complete vintage look.
