Vacheron Constantin

At the moment it seems already to be it's quite difficult to find...

...one of those calendars
(ref 4240, 4240L or ref 4241 4241L or ref 4385 or even one of those ref 4461 or 4462 or 4560 or 4623 or maybe even the ref 4764) in unmolested state.

The values for 'very good - good' ones easily triple those for average watches because of three reasons:
- Unmolested dial is worth anything, cause usually could not be replaced or redone.
- The rework of the movement is a gambling experiment, cause you actually could not justify what happened to the movement over the last decades and need to be done. Not every deficiency is visible on the first sight and there are actually huge differences of movement condition.

- Unmolested case is also worth anything, cause originality couldn't be restored.

My recommendation for the aficionado would be:
The lucky well off's eye the best known auction houses, like Phillip's.
Probably also consider to get one already professionally restored by Vacheron Constantin Les Collectionneurs.
The majority of collectors have to think about what kind of wabi in appearance could be tolerated. If the aficionado is more experienced, he could buy one with overall better wabi and good substance and commission the restore work with Vacheron Constantin. But I wouldn't recommend to do so with a local watchmaker.
