Ahh, I've never gotten to see one and wear one...

The AP watch that I liked was the special Jules Audemars Chronometer with the special robin escapement. That watch was beautiful. But it wasn't a direct comparison, and that AP was 2x the price of this Vacheron Constantin. The finishing on that watch is superb. Blows Patek Philippe out of the water. The scallop polished concave barrel screws on the back are just a small example of the finishing on that piece.
I've never gotten really wear the AP Royal Oak Tourbillon as I've never really seen one on my wrist. At the end of the day, these watches are still a little rare and hard to get a hold of. It wasn't easy to get Vacheron Constantin to loan one of their prized (and brand new) Tourbillons to me for two weeks. Normally, most moderators writing about these kinds of pieces are sourcing the pieces from a private collection. These watch brands very rarely have watches of this caliber to loan out. But if I ever get the opportunity to get an AP tourbillon, I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts and contrast it with this piece.
If I were to buy a high-complication piece today, this Vacheron Constantin would likely be it. A great piece. I can't think of a single flaw!

Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon 6000T Review

 By: patrick_y : April 15th, 2018-11:25
Patrick_y writes a review on the Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle Tourbillon 6000T and why he chooses it as his favorite watch of the 2018 SIHH. I speculate: if there was a watch that could keep Thierry Stern or Francois-Henry Bennahmias from sleeping, t...

Amazing post Patrick!

To see the full transparency of the Tourbillion is amazing with the peripheral rotor technology is quite innovative. If you weren't looking closely you would have thought it was a manual wind due to no obstruction.

Exactly!

It's really the best of both worlds. Automatic, daily use, no winding, still afforded an 80 hour power reserve (most automatics are around half that), a huge balance wheel and tourbillon cage with a more pleasing slow beat. Packaged in a generous sized ca...

Pretty glorious!

Great pictures and review!

Thanks Spangles!

I'm sure this one would meet your approval. It's my favorite of the 2018 SIHH. Do you have any other thoughts or questions? I'm happy to answer them if I can.

I'll be sure to ask if any questions come to mind.

I think you did a great job with both watch and review. The traditionelle line is, for me, the heart of VC. It's models are very classic and appealing. Just as you write, a traditionelle competes and, for me, often beats offerings from PP and ALS. Subject...

The Traditionelle Line speaks to me too...

I really like the standard manual wind small seconds Traditionelle. I find that to be a very handsome piece. In a way, it's kind of a smaller version of this tourbillon mentioned in the review, just without the tourbillon and in a smaller case. I also rea...

Thanks Patrick..very well written :-)

Personally, this watch does nothing to me as it is not any special tourbiilon. Simply a tourbillon that's automatic and with a large case, both a no no to me. As much as I so wanted toown a VC piece but I can't help to think that they are pretty much all ...

Ahh, good point, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Normally I don't like tourbillons, but I do like watches that are a little bigger diameter. I agree, a tourbillon and automatic are not special singularly, but combined, and done in a way that the rotor doesn't block the transparent tourbillon, I have to ...

I like 'boring ' watches but

 By: CL : April 16th, 2018-06:50
there are good 'boring' and bad 'boring'. Good ones are meant to be subtle and yet technically and conceptually strong. Bad ones just don't say much. For this tourbillon, the fact that we need to applaud them that the rotor doesn't block the transparent t...

Thank you for the kind words!

Definitely not every watch is for everyone. There wouldn't be any fun if that were the case. We would all wear beige clothes if that were the case. And yes. Patek Nautilus is deeply hyped. Probably one of the most hyped watches I can think of right now. W...

I have not been searching but...

I am certain any well designed watch that's 38mm-39mm from the big brand and focus on extreme finishing like Dufour and Credor will be an instant hit. For VC, if they continue following the route of Grand Seiko, launching important vintage piece s in reas...

Hopefully... Would love to... Need a good year...

I'd love to own this piece, and if I were considering another watch I'd definitely be considering this piece. I'm actually committed to buying another very expensive toy already this year that's been ongoing for almost two years. So that's the priority. B...

Masterful! I enjoyed every word

This is the kind of post that sets PuristS Pro apart! Your analysis is spot-on, and I felt the same sensations when I saw the watch. It was entertaining to read your extended impressions of the watch that we saw together too briefly in Geneva. For my mone...

Thank you for the high praise Tim!

I agree with you, the Aerostiers were indeed very impressive! But with such a small production of so few pieces, I didn't want to write about something nobody could get... Maybe that's why we don't read a lot of articles about stainless steel Rolex Dayton...

Supremely....

impressive timepiece given its aesthetic and technical minimalism. I like it a great deal, thank you very much for taking the time to write this review! Cheers, Filip

congratulations to the very elegant watch if i may ask what type of hair spring they use is it a breguet curve or flat best wishes poseidon

Good question...

 By: patrick_y : April 16th, 2018-06:20
I didn't notice if the hair spring was a flat or terminal curved or otherwise. I'll ask on your behalf if I get a chance. It's really a great watch, one of the best watches I've ever reviewed and a piece I already know I want to own. I almost didn't want ...

Got it. Thanks!

I was almost certain that it was a Breguet overcoil, but I didn't want to say unless I could confirm.

Thank you for reading!

Truly hard to find weaknesses and faults with this one. And I'm normally picky enough to find something wrong with every piece! I like it a great deal too... I'm currently buying something physically big. But I think I still have enough room for something...
