My understanding....
Despite not yet having the opportunity to visit the factory in Texas myself is that each and every component is CNC machined from billet aluminum and subsequently finished and fitted by hand.... That's where the bulk of the $6-9K cost for these guns comes from, but you can always go totally wild with aesthetic customization, as well as integrate titanium components instead of aluminum (as in a titanium integrated comp for a competition pistol etc.), which can then lead to a final build price of $10+K.... Anyway, it clearly depends on what you're looking for, and given the fact you're a top flight competition shooter, I would imagine you'd have to spend $9-10K to build one from scratch meeting your requirements. I also liked this video from the 1911 Syndicate channel breaking down 19/2011 pricing standards, including Infinity guns....

That bolt isn't decorative and serves a very significant purpose - it is one of the attachment points bolting the grip to the frame since they are two seperate parts. Also, I called myself the village idiot, I would never insult someone of your pedigree
No misreading, the trigger bow is an actual part of the trigger, the gaurd is a part of the frame. Those aren't interchangeable terms. Keep digging!

really aluminium or did I mis-read it? If they are, I'm very surprised for one obvious reasons: its weight doesn't suit the recoil of the 1911A1 (Newton's 3rd Law) - it's just too light for a heavy-recoiling gun.
