You are right! A lot is forgiven if there is a mob mentality...
Tesla cars are selling like hot cakes. Some friends have waited 2 months to get theirs! And the build quality is very inconsistent. Mine is missing some paint and the panel gaps are not perfect. I'd say the build quality is worse than a Hyundai (which used to have mediocre build quality decades ago, but is now very good today). But people like them! And overall, they're good cars, just not in specifically the paint and panel gap quality department. Full disclosure, I'm a Tesla shareholder and I really like Tesla cars.

Common people look at Rolex and see money
Most of the customers are excited and caught by the value. That's all they really matter. Design, watchmaking, precision, finishing, these are just extra features. Mostly unknown. Rolex has been my first watch, but I've moved away long ago

Not at all. They're a feature, used by fans to identify different batches in order to have a more valuable and rare product. This is what I read if I read a bit deeper, the article is just a subjective and boring list 😅
