Maybe for a few months it may be... but they will be falling out of the trees as usual, shortly... if you love it for what it is, love it indeed, but don't pretend a Daytona is ever rare when still in production.
rated like Rober Parker rates wines, this would be like Chateau Pontet Canet 2009 & 2010. Just a 5th Growth Grand Cru making it relatively affordable but as fines as the some wines of the 1st Growth costing 5-10 times more. For me this is a 100/100 po...
automatic Patek chronograph, 5960A, 5960P, 5980/1A and 5975P aside... Rolex is not shy at all compared to those watches costing much more. Indeed, a terrific watch. Best, Kari
Every post on the new Daytona immediately refers to how hard it is/was to obtain it which means the wearers are Rolex posers - being more excited about having a scarce watch than the watch itself. If you could go out to a Rolex AD tomorrow and obtain one ...
If the watch would be obtainable from all shops, this would have been on my wrist from 17th March. I have enough rare and limited watches. All of those I have bought just because of the watch - fu*k the rarity. Same with Daytona: the only reason to get it...

but I have not claimed that Daytona would be rare nor hard to find. Naturally in the beginning of the production the shops will not be filled with these but let some time run - I'm sure Daytona will be a common watch. The only reason to get this watch is ...
Why can't someone not enjoy being among the first to get it ? Nothing is really rare. With money even old daytonas are available..so what. I don't think that you can easily get one in a "few months". There is a 2+ years waiting list everywhere and rightly...
but Tudor Bronze has been a challenge. I did not manage yet even I tried from old friends in Europe plus AD in Hawaii. Wempe in Frankfurt said: "we have not seen it yet". Best, Kari
Well except the original post in this thread, which said nothing about how difficult the Daytona is to obtain. Not very friendly to barge into a thread and start labeling owners as poseurs. Presumptuous and out of line.
In 2006 Patek 5960P was very difficult to get. Now it sells 2nd hand with great prices. This happens with every new great watch and I do not find discussing it too interesting. Best, Kari
even if he said that it was difficult so what? It is difficult to obtain why can't people get over this ? I am totally happy for Kari BTW I was among the first in the waiting list not because I am special but because I reserved it early on. So many people...
I think the original post that called Kari a poser has been removed now but.. This was totally inappropriate. How do you know that he's not enjoying the watch ? it is a difficult to get watch yes, but with patience everything is possible. Totally not true...
The metal bezel was very sensitive and prone to scratches. This new ceramic bezel can take a lot of punishment and thus, Daytona has lost nothing from its tool watch characteristics. Best, Kari
The polished bezel was very flashy before, IMO. Maybe moreso with the ceramic bezel? The black subdial surrounds of the new Daytona are much better than the silver ones on the prior version.
headache. My wife has placed there tens and tens of roses, tens of apple trees, a lot of cherry trees, berry bushes, peas, strawberries.... Asphalt would be handier. Now she wants to do the same in our farm even we have there everything except roses. What...
of 100 Parker points and indeed, Pontet Canet is of great value just like Daytona. I do not know where to place 2010 Ch. Petrus in the watch world... Best, Kari
I guess I have enough platinum watches for one guy: the count of my #1 brand shows two digits. More are hardly needed... Furthermore, I am not convinced about having "tool" or sporting watches in platinum. Best, Kari
new white gold with blue dial thou but I know you don't like blue dials a lot or rightly think that are just fashion ..I agree but I might still try to get the WG blue dial because it looks amazing
I have some serious issues with platinum watches. Last year I was offered Patek 5711P. After long consideration I refused and regretted (a little bit) afterwards. I refused because I can't find one good reason why a sporting watch should be made of platin...
is so very prone to scratches and sometimes it's unnecessary heavy. I can't decide if I like more my 5960A or 5960P. For sure, the steel version (now with strap) is a nicer watch for every day use. Best, Kari
In a way, I view these Daytonas as transitional... what comes after the new bezel? A completely new Daytona. I like ALL Daytonas. Though for myself, I realized after owning a couple, its not a watch for me. One of the reasons was because they are such cra...
But first and most important congratulations on acquiring a great watch. And for the money a watch that is even better than great! You mentioned that you might like to acquire a now discontinued steel bezel 116520. Of the 4 Rolex movement steel Daytonas 1...
...is similar to the steel one. Not much info out there yet except this one has done it... If true and the construction is similar/interchangeable it wud be a win-win situation picking up either one
