Is it really Rolex's fault?

Blame the hype and increasing demand...
ADs keep the hot models off the shelves for their most loyal and VIP customers. And why wouldn't they? ADs should cater to the customers that has been keeping them in business for so long. Why would they sell it to some Joe Schmoe that will end up flipping the watch because Joe cant turn down a 100% profit? ADs rather sell the hot models to to customers that build a relationship, especially the ones that have been with them before the hype. Most of those loyal/VIP customers see the profit of flipping the Rolex as not worth their time or the money is not that significant.
Dealers would love to be Rolex ADs. Rolex's are guaranteed sales. I rather have my show case empty because of sales than filled with watches I couldn't sell. Or even worst, have an empty show case due to me selling all my non sellable watches to the grey market at wholesales.
Should Rolex increase production? yes and no. Yes if Rolex's production line can handle the workload without sacrificing quality. I rather them not sacrifice quality for quantity. We seen that back in 2014. Rolex increased their production to just over 1 million watches a year and sacrifice some quality. They had to bring that number back down to 900k after they realize their quality took a hit.
Finally blame yourself. Where were you 3 to 5 years ago? before the hype and increase demand? Why didn't you buy the Hulk of Batman when they were sitting on the shelves or when they were selling below msrp in the grey market? Now you want a Rolex after seeing the preowned and grey market price? After seeing the resale value? What changed your mind? Did the increase exclusivity? Did the increase demand? Did the Hype? Did the resale value? You be lying to yourself that none of those matter now that you cant get one. Face it, you started looking at Rolex after the fact and now you are mad because you are late to the party? What makes it worst is that people believe or think that they are entitled to buy Rolex (or anything really) just because they have the money.
If you say you are not a Rolex fan and do not want one, Great, more power to you. I am sure other brands would love your business. But there is no denying that Rolex is hot. It is a brand for both collectors and regulars that can get into. A brand that everyone knows.
That's my two cent as a owner of Rolex, JLC, Omega, and H. Moser. and former owner of Panerai, IWC, and Tag Heuer, Let me know what you think?
