I am in Singapore today and decided to check on a Dayton Price for you

 


Hi Again,

After I read your post this morning and as I am passing through Singapore and checking out the local watch houses, I made a point to check on price and availability of a Stainless Steel Daytona.

Like your Adelaide AD, the Singapore AD also asked a premium on recommended retail. He advised that they had two in the Warehouse in stock in Singapore, and the price was $xxxxx which is about 31% above Rolex's recommended Retail.

Here you don't have to buy another watch to get a SS Daytona.... you just have to pay the premium.

But again...... that's just the asking.... bottom line is you might after negotiation .... end up buying one, even off your Adelaide dealer at full retail, and if that is what you have to pay for a watch that is restricted... well it's not so bad.

If you really want one, and they are a great watch that would last for lifetime, you should leave a standing offer with your Adelaide AD for one at full retail... and I bet you would own the watch.

Another point is they are reasonably saleable if you tire of it...but I dont think you would they wear like silk.

Anyway...at least you now know two units are available.... and I don't know who your Adelaide Ad is , but chances are he is owned by a Singapore Company and in any case you can bet your boots his stock comes out of Singapore.

Hello and sorry to hear about your experiences. Have you tried contacting another AD or called around? The way the economy is now, the watch industry in general is struggling and inventory is high. You shouldn't have to purchase a watch just to buy the on...

That would never happen with Omega or Breitling, I would imagine, unless it was a rare solid gold watch perhaps. How about foregoing the 'new' mentality and buy 'like new' or 'mint', there are so many out there waiting to get 'adopted'! =:^D

Sorry to hear of your experiences. Thankfully not all dealers act that way. Many owners of Rolex watches go back and buy more watches. In the long run this dealer will loose a lot of customers if he keeps up this policy. I wonder if Rolex the Company is a...

You should let the Rolex Co. to know about this practice. It´s simple abusive and you shouldn't just let this through. Even if I haven´t bought not a pencil from them, if I wanted a Daytona my AD wouldn't hesitate to put me in the (looong) list;...

I would change AD- you should be treated right. It is understandable for an AD to reserve some watches for regular and good customers but you should not be forced to buy a watch just to be placed on a list- especially when you just bought a watch a month ... 

Ditto PinkPanther's suggestion. Also, I just saw a SS Daytona without premium at an AD.

PinkPanter is correct, this is absolute blackmail. There's an SS Daytona here in Orange County, California at the local Rolex Boutique in the window, without markup, without having you must buy another watch.

and the best is never to shop there again and tell your friends to do the same Of course you could always show that AD that you shop elsewhere but do advertise the ADs bad manners and "blackmailing" cheers
