Recently I went into my local AD to put my name down on a wait list for a SS Daytona (I live in Adelaide, Australia).
The owner of the store told me, to go on the list, I need to first purchase another Rolex.
Considering I went in there with a friend about 1 month ago & purchased a deepsea myself (my friend purchased the discontinued SD) I said, well I already have, can you put me on the list?
He said, at the time of my purchase I needed to mention I wanted the SS Daytona and I could’ve gone on the wait list at that time, but now, I would need to purchase yet another Rolex and only then could I go on the wait list for the Daytona.
The owner then showed me a SS Daytona he had in his safe and said he was reserving it to offer as a sweetner to someone purchasing a more expensive precious metal/diamond set model or multiple rolexes.
Basically I feel disillusioned with this experience, and was wondering what other purist experiences/opinions are on this matter. I thought you could just put your name on a wait list for the SS daytona?
