Explorers, Explorers!! Hi Nicolas!

I should have imagined! I love Explorers too, and feel that they are the most underated type among collectors, in spite of its colorful history and in spite of its intrinsic beauty. And the fact that it is a most handsome and practical watch.
Sometimes I ask myself, what would have happened, if Producers of the first films of James Bond, had given Mr. Connery an Explorer, following the writings in Ian Flemming novels, and in view of his personal watch, instead of a Submariner.
(This is not to say that I don´t love Subs, a type which has been on my wrist since 1966, my absolutly Nr. 1 favourite watch.)
6610 and 1016 Explorers are watches full of character and beauty of design. Great choice for your third place favorite!

I am such a big fan of the Explorer, which explains that I rate it so high.
Now which one, this is another question? 6610 ReD, 6610 Normal, 1016 Gilt or not, 1655 1st Generation straight hand, or 1655 Rail Dial, 16650 CReam Rail Dial or Black Rail Dial??? There are so many competitors to the 3rd rank. Best, Nicolas

About the crown
Don't be sad for your 6542's crown ....... in my opinion (for that matters now) I'm pretty sure that after '58 the crown is without the + This is my 6542 by the way. ;-)...
