Patek Philippe

Yes, Limited

First, it has to be compared 700 with 55 000/58 000.

Then what is the problem with the "limited" 700 (or the 1300 5976/1G)?

They take this "limited" element to make prices higher? NO, we discussed about this and they are not from a standard equivalent from the collection. Not lika brand who say "hey it is limited so the price is +30%, but hey, it will be colletible!". This is most often telling lies, a marketting stuff only.

At Patek any of the limited editions from last years were'nt different from standrad colelction or from auctions when not in the colelction anymore. Always to be considered with the number of course.

The 5711P was old lately at 200 KUSD on auction. The last price was 98K€ new if I'm not wrong. The new one is 102K€. No increase.

The fact it is limited is that they won't produce more and they inform the clients how many there will be. This isn't much more honest that saying, well you'll see? So many references, any brands taken, that have been sold in huge volumes.

Those LEs are sold the same prices.

About the earnings from that nautilus event: they could have gotten the same result without the bagettes and the stamps. Thus the baguettes and stamps weren't mandatory. Conclusion they didn't want to put baguettes and stamp because of what they could get in €. The financial return wasn't the reason why imho.

You say now that you "stupidly" let the 5711P pass but remember that at that time, like many of us, the reaction was "it is not a material for a sport watch" (btw it is not a post watch at all but a sporty luxury watch able to resist better than a classical leather strap Calatrava). Like many at the time people didn't understand it and were not understanding why Pt. And now so many want one...

But, like in all fields, we never learn from our own mistakes and the history is repeated the same way again and again.

Now, if people want to make bargains and speculations and buy just because it is Patek and are even waiting now for a return of investment, it is their problem. Patek and Rolex and the brands which keep best their value but that doesn't mean all references do.

People want to be able to buy only watches to get a positive investment. I'll answer they are in the wrong field.

Here we are atalking about passion of watchmaking. Since the launch of the Nautilus, I see too many people talking about money or the brand is finished. I'm quite fed up with this.

We can talk about sports cars and paintings without talking money or how the car parks in cities.

I'll say, let's do this with watches.
