About the size, the 5990's is the same than 5980 thus 40.5mm from 10 to 4 o'clock. This one is 44mm for the same measurement.
It is a totally different offer, on the asthetical and technical base of the 5980.
Maybe preparing a larger size for the future, just a guess.

In the past the collectors knew what made each piece special
