This guy could be Steeeevie Cohen for all we know.. it's all relative. These pieces are like buying a pack of gum to Stevie. You never know someone's circumstances. No need to hem and haw for 20% back.. multiple phone calls and emails over months and months blah blah.. Tme is money.. you make more working in one day than months of nudnicking over every piece.. "Sure I'll take them all". Doesn't make him any less of a collector just because he has the means to do so instantly.. it takes most of us years and decades to "collect" because we don't have the immediate funds to do as he or one who has can. If you can buy it and enjoy it now.. why not? Why wait if you don't have to? I wouldn't if I could afford it.. I would buy all the pieces possible.
A lovely, lovely collection of coloured metal Patreks! Must be like meditation looking at those pieces. As you like coloured metal pieces: the 5078 R might be a (very) difficult task but a must have for a collector of your calibre. Best Moritz
Hi. I've just confirmed the purchase of a discontinued 42mm 5079J (bigger version of the current model 5078) from another collector and should have possession of it by next week. Appreciate the suggestion!!!
But I also have some questions.... You show a wonderfully eclectic approach to the collection....can i ask what drove you to make the choices that you already have made? That will give some insight into what type of collection you are looking to build. Se...
......I may be wrong, but I believe the 5970 and 5960 are just back from service and still wrapped accordingly. Great collection there, 5070P next perhaps?
Yes....the 5070 is rare and an exquisite piece but I recently placed an order for a 5074 and it looks quite similar to the 5070 except for a lunar calendar and minute repeater added in. Should arrive before the end of the this year. Thanks for the suggest...
What we see is already impressive, especially when you say you just started. What we don´t know is your motivation to collect. The latter would be good to know to give you appropriate advices. So far I see a weakness for RG and complications, at least whe...
Yes you are correct. But as I just got started on Patek I should be having a more varied range of pieces with different high end complications. Will update when I have the chance. Cheers!
engraving, enamel ... as well? If so there would be some nice pieces as well and you won´t see them easily - even in your country :-) Thanks for your candidness and "patience" (with some here; at least at the moment)! Oliver

Your collection is amazing in a short period! Bravo and congrats! Hope you can share more with us more pics on each of your lovely PPs. Enjoy your watches in the best of health! cheers robin
Congratulations on accomplishing so much in so little time! What I find interesting about your collection is that each watch represents a complication or set of complications different from each of the others. Taking into account this apparently well thou...
Wonderful collection for someone who just started his collection for less than a year !! My suggestion would be to add one or more of the followings: 5131G to complement your 5131J, 5196P (elegant, stylish and classy) to have a simple addition to your com...
Nice collection, especially for someone new and only active in the past "few months." The most unique piece here is the 5135. That's a piece that not a lot of people choose and the people who choose it really like it. Yes, the 5131 is very special. The 51...
I totally agree with your feedback and here are the list of Patek I should be adding to my collection within the next few months 5079 (just purchased) 5074 (ordered) 5207 (hunting) 6102 (negotiating) 5016 (negotiating)
Firstly you show some nice watches in your collection. No doubt about that. But you have not answered any questions that have been asked so far. And some of the questions would indeed provide more insight for us to be able to help you. For example: 1) I a...
1) I also would like to know why some remain in plastic. Some of the models in my collection were only recently purchased from other collectors and I did not see the need to remove the plastic seal if it comes with it. When my professional photographer ph...
Dear Jeff, Firstly thank you for responding to the questions. As your answer I don't quite agree with you. Building a collection has nothing to do with 'monetary' value or means. Rather it has to do with knowledge. And that knowledge is only acquired over...
I admit I am lacking in knowledge and did not ever once mention I am some sort of expert on watches. But I do have the passion and it is what drives me to collect my watches. I want to learn more and that is why I am here in hope that I can obtain more kn...
.... that you have the opposite problem (namely, more money than you know what to do with and a desire to spend it on the best) here is my advice: search for the very best. The hunt is fun. And by simply buying newly made pieces and opening your checkbook...
I am aware that some of the valued forum members with considerably more experience and expertise on watches will slap me but...sorry, I can't help but disagreeing with the comments here. Having acquired half a dozen of time pieces of arguably the most pre...
I agree in principle with you. In fact the same thoughts crossed my mind. But lets keep back judgement before we hear more from the collector. Maybe he inherited many pieces and only bought 1 or 2. Maybe he studied and did his homework for years before bu...
On the AP forum you posted that you are waiting to get 2 Pateks back from the service center before showing us your collection. If you just started buying these watches in the last few months why do they need any servicing at all? Based on your AP posts a...
Hi. Your perception is totally understandable because of the short time I only spent to collect these watches. In due time I will post the individual shots of each of my watches including a few magazine articles on my collection and myself within the next...
... and, yes, I see lots of nice Pateks and nice collection indeed. Why you keep your collection in the sealed plastic sort of makes me scratch my head..... but then again, there must be some reasons. Anyway, we await your follow up posts going forward an...
... IMO you got it all wrong, with all due respect. You are not shopping for candies here. Building a collection is mainly about passion, and you seem to have it all except that. Your frenzy sounds like an ego trip much more that real love of Patek. I can...
Many thanks for your honest opinion. First off....I am not collecting watches to become a professional in the horology industry. I am merely just another avid collector of fine watches. Secondly....even at the rate I am buying watches, I won't be able to ...
... that i might be wrong. Its just not usual to come across such case as yours. Wear them in good health, especially the ones that are sealed, they are my personal favorite among your collection. As you are thinking long term, once you will have them ser...
... you will see how nicely the dial plays with the light. Worldtime should be fantastic, as the enamel dials always reveals new details according the surrounding, the sun, whether its a sunset, or morning sun, etc... 5980R has so many variations of brown...
I'm going to go ahead and say it. I don't believe any of this. Prove me wrong. Take a wrist shot. Take a wrist shot outdoors. They are all your watches. Almost everybody on this site appreciates a shot of the movement as much as one of the dial. All we go...
You are absolutely right....I'm in brazil now for the world cup....the newspaper background picture shot is a great suggestion. I will keep it in mind. Thanks!
....the following came to me..... .....this forum is full of guys who essentially do not have a budget limit on their watches, yet they do not all build collections in such a rapid way as you have done. They also rarely need to ask other opinions about wh...
.....genuinely, a large part of the fun in watch collecting is identifying criteria that forms the framework for a collection. In devising those criteria, a big part of the fun for me is devising aspects that will prove challenging and interesting. Histor...
Supposing these really are your watches, you're an accumulator, not a collector. And your flippant self introduction is clearly rubbing some people the wrong way.
Whether I introduced myself flippantly or rubbed people the wrong way or whether I am a accumulator or collector it doesn't really matter. Everybody's perception of things are different and I am deeply sad and disappointed that instead of sharing knowledg...
The original poster's "AP Collection" looks as suspect as his "Patek Collection". I too can post wrist shots of my visit to Rue du Rhone. But I don't. I even have wrist shots of a 2499, 1518, 1526 and others. My wrist. Somebody else's watches.
Put all your watches together. Set the time of all the watch the same at 6 o clock. Write on a piece of papers the names of all who doubt your watch. Include your middle finger in the foto........LOL. IF u can do that, you will silence all the doubters he...
Even then that doesn't say much, I am sure we all got friends with Pateks that we can borrow and snap a picture. He could even be a watch dealer and has access at all times. If he says he owns the watches I will just believe it, but like I said above, if ...
its sealed by dealer and its not autthentic Patek manner of sealing the watch. My Russian dealer do the the same once the plactic sleeve is cut. And, the Collector is saying that he is currently in Brazil world cup. Ok, why do not you just to the snapshot...
Who cares what random people on the Internet think of you? You know whether you own the watches or don't. And if you do, you can be enjoying them while others here are jealously hoping they're not yours. :) Life's too short to waste time trying to be a bi...
…. sooner than later, we won't be hearing much of his post here with patek philippe, this humble generous keen collector, will soon find himself elsewhere with a whole new collection of something. I suppose in this day and age, there is a site for all kin...
I am really Sad to see this forum becoming an EXCLUSIVE CLUB. Personally i dont understand why some are questioning and attacking this guy? Did he violate any forum rules? He might come on as a bit TOO SHOWY but i really didnt sense any impoliteness from ...
whether the original poster is a collector of accumulator is irrelevant, and the terms are misleading. i have been a watch collector for more than 15 years and have had a range of watches from Tag Heuer to Patek. I have a list of (Patek) grail watches tha...
As a "collector" myself for quite some time.. if I hit the lottery tonight.. first thing tomorrow morning I would be on the phone to my AD and numerous dealers to find me every piece I have always wanted but was unable to purchase. You name it I would buy...
if I was collecting so many watches AT ONCE, i would request that after flying to Geneva (private of course, at my cost) , I take delivery from either Mr. Stern personally.
This guy could be Steeeevie Cohen for all we know.. it's all relative. These pieces are like buying a pack of gum to Stevie. You never know someone's circumstances. No need to hem and haw for 20% back.. multiple phone calls and emails over months and mont...
An item being expensive and value is always relative to the individual purchaser. for a top tier investment banker or hedge fund manager that manages billions of dollars/euros/pounds, where time literally is money, paying extra to get what you want NOW is...
And I agree with most of what you both write, especially in regard to funds and accumulating watches. I too would buy up all my dream watches as fast as I could if I suddenly had unlimited funds and I would not feel a bit guilty about it. I would not care...
"wow" to OP's collection and "wow" to the collective response. As a long-time reader of PuristPro, this was actually my first foray over to the Patek Forum. Here is what I walked away with: - OP posts a great collection of watches and asks for opinions of...
And i do apologize if the "TROLL" offended you in any way... Its not about my doubt that you are the owner of this beautiful collection. The way how the collection was introduced was a bit trollish... Just a snapshot of the expensive watches, the same as ...
Reminds me of a friend with similar taste. Modern pateks are nice watches to begin with. Then you can take different routes such as ultra rare vintage pocket watches(eg:tourbillon pocket warches made for chronometer competitions) and important vintage wri...

And indulge completely in your passion for horology. It doesn't matter the prices and value and the speed of our acquisition if at the end of the day, we enjoy our watches and share our joy here. I think some of the experienced members have given you good...
that's a very impressive PP collection you have there. i am also a strong supporter of PP and understand your delight in this brand. They make wonderful watches which are so refine and warm. Enjoy them in good health ! Cheers !
