Very intuitive input
May 28, 2018,07:31 AM
Chimera, how can you not love the pure complication with no holes for the am/pm or leap year! Some say it could become an application piece, which personally I would welcome. BTW, I don’t feel my 5976 is a gimmick, IMHO it’s a wonderful tribute and the most special Nautilus to date. ...Jim

Patek 5740, a future Icon?
By: GreatPilot@me.com : May 25th, 2018-07:18
Good morning all, I love the Natilus 5740’s look, layout, dial color, perceived legibility (haven’t see it in the flesh yet) and functions. I know we don’t have crystal balls and I will be told to buy “for the love of the watch” which I love as much as on...
Thank you Justin
By: GreatPilot@me.com : May 25th, 2018-08:24
I remember our discussion about the 5740 and ordered mine at the same time it came out. Thank you for all your help...Jim
Thanks Maltie
By: GreatPilot@me.com : May 25th, 2018-08:24
I appreciate your input, I have heard nothing but excitement about the 5740 but as it gets closer to reality I began to think about the 5976 to compare and contrast the two. I was lucky enough to get one when it came out and although my wrist is 6.75 inch...
I'm wondering too.
By: Maltie : May 25th, 2018-08:53
He he, you are on the 5270P list too. Patience, not one of my virtues 😂
Thanks GLau
By: GreatPilot@me.com : May 25th, 2018-16:11
Good input, the 5976 is a special watch and I hope to get the 5740 also...Jim
I did not even realize the 5712 is worth so much now.
By: BABKA : May 25th, 2018-09:53
I'm glad I kept mine so long! This new reference is a sure shot winner. I can't wait to see it in the metal. I'm not a huge PP fan. However, this one I would love to own some day.
Kind of moot, as they are 'sold out' but
By: Velociphile - No longer in the building : May 25th, 2018-10:04
... did PP take the opportunity for this piece to upgrade it back to a screwed together bracelet especially as pins and sleeves and gold might not be the most durable approach? Velociphile
Thanks 5980

Good points here. The breach between what’s “hot” and what’s not has never been greater....

By: Thy1r : May 25th, 2018-12:04
I love the warm color of the gold. The weight. The color of the dial. I am not enough a nautilus fan to buy yet but it is a nice piece. And certainly a futur collector piece. ...
My honest thoughts...
By: thomaspp : May 25th, 2018-21:04
I’ll start by saying I love what Patek did here. 240Q, slim, 40mm, blue dial and upgraded clasp! All great. The price however is outrageous (so much more expensive than a 5980 1/r and very little in the way of innovation here really....). There is certain...

By: GreatPilot@me.com : May 26th, 2018-16:21
You have some great points, as time goes on Patek will probably do as you say all the way to a SS model, which at half the price I would prefer. I think it goes back to “buy what you love” because some of us may not be around when/if the SS comes out ...J...

Significantly more than other PC's in the collection. Dont agree with the Anniversary comment. The 5976 caters to a person eho wants a big watch or a person who collects chronos and needs one as a casual piece. Yes the blue is the same but yo hurt ths pri...
Thank you everyone!
By: GreatPilot@me.com : May 26th, 2018-16:37
It looks like the 5740 will be a VERY popular watch. Some great opinions and input which I appreciate. It really is not anything we haven’t seen with Patek but the combination is spectacular. The bottom line is, with few exceptions, everyone who can/could...

A bridge
By: Chimaera : May 28th, 2018-00:12
This piece will be recorded in history as the bridge between the “mass demand” Nautilus and PP’s more traditional pieces. We know that for many years PP has throttled back Nautilus supply so that the brand is not overwhelmed. Now we have a major complicat...

Hi Jim
By: Chimaera : May 28th, 2018-12:07
I do love it, sorry if not clear. On the anniversary ones I just couldn’t get happy with the dial embossing. No offence intended though, and keep enjoying it!
Date available at AD?
By: Patekissoamazing : May 28th, 2018-12:14
Does anyone actually know that date it will be released, I paid for mine several months ago and I am supposed to be the first one to get it, but no one will say when it’s coming out.
July??
By: Azzsi : May 29th, 2018-11:39
Willing to bet no sooner than November. Most likely early next year. But that’s only my opinion
Why dont we say $500 to a charity
By: Patekphilippecollector : May 31st, 2018-21:17
Of your choice if the watch is not received by September and each of the experts above donaye a similar amount if i get before October. Proof to be either me wearing it or in the brown box sealed
Start thinking of your charity
By: Patekphilippecollector : July 5th, 2018-08:25
The watch is still live on the system for end of July delivery but bizarrely the cufflinks in September@@@

Thanks for DM. I took the bet literally thought
By: Patekphilippecollector : May 30th, 2018-06:45
Could make some money for charity. I can only say what Rhone tells me and their system shows my order as "live" delivery mid to 3rd week july. Not much more i can say

This model is targeted for collectors and resellers only imo.
By: jimjenkins : June 2nd, 2018-00:40
To me the idea of Nautilus is its sportiness and sturdiness. This model offers none of these. White gold bracelet in a sports watch ??? Definitely not for outdoor fans. Just look at Rolex wg bands. They look worn out or distressed in few months when used ...

By: seehoo : July 7th, 2018-04:46
this new release will become a classic. When I first saw pics of the 5740,I wasn’t impressed. But after seeing one in person a few days ago...it was “awesome”! I also feel that at that price,it elevates the value of the Nautilus line. Here’s a pic I took....
A QUESTION TO ALL
By: vicunaman1 : July 7th, 2018-10:33
As the 5740G will probably achieve icon status (price will control the limited production)….. Are there any opinions on whether the original (cases), 3700, 3710, will increase in rarity on the market, and geometrically in price??
Thanks again to all,
By: GreatPilot@me.com : July 8th, 2018-08:48
Overall the 5740G, at least in this thread, is a hit for most everyone and the vast opinion(s) is it will be a future icon. Jim I see your great points about no second hand and a white gold sport theme watch but at this price point who would use it as a s...

By: patrick_y : July 30th, 2018-19:05
1. It's totally created to fit a hole in the Patek Philippe portfolio. Audemars Piguet has one, Vacheron Constantin has one, so now Patek Philippe needs to have one. 2. The font is so radically different than everything ever used by Patek Philippe that I ...

By: GreatPilot@me.com : July 30th, 2018-20:22

I've seen the 5740, and I still can't say I love it. The Nautilus dial with the horizontal pleats makes it look really busy with the perpetual dial. It already looks a little busy with the 5712 dial. The font of the 5740 still irks me. When I first saw th...
I tend to agree. It's awkward in execution
By: Velociphile - No longer in the building : October 18th, 2018-10:32
and not a patch on balance achieved in the dial of the whimsical 3712 or 5712. It should work, but it just somehow doesn't. As for the impracticalities of it as a 'sports' watch it just doesn't gel as an overall approach. Velociphile

This watch will come down in value in 2 years... after the initial hype... (what is rare about it, what is exceptional in terms of labor-hours about it?) it's not PURE enough design wise, departs from classic Genta... has little to do with the classic Nau...
Hi Mostel
By: GreatPilot@me.com : September 5th, 2018-17:38
I respectfully disagree with your assessment but respect your right to voice it as a fellow collector. Your main point is “This watch will come down in value in 2 years”, or it’s not true to it’s roots, for me it’s about the watch I want versus the future...
Jim, you may be right
By: Mostel : September 30th, 2018-18:35
I just shake my head at the 'value' of Nautilus--it amazes me that Patek has continued to work its voodoo on the market. Movements are inferior to its glorious past... I just don't get it. But to each his own and thanks for your kind reply.
I think
By: tom2517 : September 5th, 2018-23:46
I’m not sure it will come down in value in two years since the market is very hot but I do agree with your other points.
Thanks kindly
By: Mostel : September 30th, 2018-18:39
for your reply. The 5980 was crazy hot, overpriced back in the day, then settled down... believe this one will too. It boggles my mind that the 5711 hold the value it 'seems to'. Patek raising prices is the main strategy. When you go to buy a 5711 or any ...

By: ChristianDK : September 24th, 2018-08:35
The dial looks darker than the visualizations. Is it just your picture or is it in fact darker? I’m quite curious about this one.
Thanks my friend
By: ChristianDK : September 24th, 2018-09:36
I really look forward to seeing it.
Hi Christian
By: GreatPilot@me.com : September 25th, 2018-13:46
The dial is not as dark as Westrop’s picture but is a very deep (medium) blue, wonderful in person...Jim
Thanks, Jim
By: ChristianDK : September 25th, 2018-14:47
It sounds just perfect. Perhaps similar to the 5711P (first series) which I consider as the ultimate Nautilus. That blue hue is just stunning. Best Christian
And she is elegantly thin!
By: CaptainNemo : October 13th, 2018-11:03
