I think that was the aim of Patek.
Now the question raised by some purists is "is it good they provide what people want" or "should they make a selection and refuse a few things they don't think they should do"? Tough questions as we will know about the impact on the brand's image very long after.
I was thinking about how cold was the welcome for the 3700 back then. Especially compared to classical cases!
Now, that doesn't mean that everything should be accepted and that's a tough work to be able to chose waht to accept and where to stop.
I totally agree with your on the controled steel production matter. It is natural that some complain about the waiting time but otherwise it would lead to a massive flood of Nautilus on the market and cover the other watches. That's something I really don't want to see.
It would be easy money for Patek but they don't do it. This shows that it is not about how Patek wants to optimize money cah-in but a real choice.

In the past the collectors knew what made each piece special

Whilst many will be underwhelmed I get the wait for 50. The platinum is a nice piece and well the blue looks good on any Nautilus however I\'m not personally a fan of the "40" text. I find the size reference intriguing and wonder how the Chrono stacks up ...
