Patek Philippe

subdials disrupt waffle pattern

I’m glad to read that I’m not the only one who thought this when first pictures of the 5740 came out. I bet the PP designers thought long and hard about it; as well as the visual size impact of the moonphase/day window at 6 versus the other 2 smaller windows at 3 & 9. It would be compelling to hear directly from Patek about the design process when the 5740 was born because the Nautilus has thematic cues that have to be honored.

I am most impressed by the dimensions of the watch and how it has a strong link to Genta’s original design.

This 5740 is a great exclamation point to the ~42 years of the Nautilus line, even more than I think the special 40th anniversary releases.
