strategy of PP
apparently, they put salmon(ish) dials on the two most unpopular references, the 5172G and the 5230G, to make them more popular in the market. i believe that the strategy will fail, both watches look (on pics) poor and worse than their previous iterations. this was confirmed by friends who saw them in the metal at the WW show. sad.

That's not the shade of "salmon" I would want! So strange, Patek Philippe used to do such a great job in design!
These salmon dials are very difficult to judge on pictures.
I personnaly do not like them if they go too much into pink.
Actually I placed my name on the list before going to Geneva - so I will have a second chance to handle it
But don't have to take it as the AD will offer me the first that arrives and this will surely find another buyer quickly in case I decline

...just after it was released. I love the hands and the cream dial, but I really don't like the way the 5 and 7 markers are handled. So the dial color doesn't matter to me...
They should have just put a dot for 5 and 7
I also find this odd, there is no line for the other numbers

Salmon looks great on the 5270p but not so fond of it on this one or the 5172.

This release is "rose gilt" , I wonder what rhe 5270p is described as by pp. A lot of watches out there, can always try the vc tradionelle in platinum. Thanks for the pictures. - Kevin
A huge mistake IMHO
The original dial fit into the vintage vibe with the ivory dial. But this absurd marketing strategy for Patek... salmon for 5320 + 5172... what.... I was rather disappointed with this release. This is so not patek-like. But... I am biased! ...

Now I really want to see this one in the metal. I'll be honest, the color in these pictures does not sing to me!
In your photos, the dial indeed looks a bit dull (especially the 1st photo)
But from Patek official website, the colour is almost identical as the one on 5270P. Perhaps the one showcased in W&W is prototype and may look different from the delivered ones?
I guess not because they had three 5320G at W&W and all looked the same

Completely agree
with all the comments about the salmons needing to be seen in the metal, and in different conditions. My 3940g-029 veers from beige to bright pink depending on conditions (and I like to think, my mood!)
